Monday, April 7 to Sunday April 13 and Monday, October 6 to Sunday, October 12
April and October are perfect seasons to
visit Paris. The weather is delightful,
the big crowds are gone. Travel with a
small group of 10-14 adults on an ambitious and exciting itinerary with a
professional tour guide leading the way.
Professor Steve Solosky, author of “The
Traveling Professor’s Guide to Paris” has custom-designed a culturally
enriching and enjoyable 7-day, 6-night itinerary. Not only are the major sites
like the Eiffel Tower, Louvre, Versailles and Musée Orsay on the schedule, but
there are opportunities to experience hidden secrets of Paris. Traveling with a small group accompanied by
an expert guide affords an intimate and personalized view of the City of Light
that cannot be found by visiting Paris on your own or with any other tour
company.
Question: How do you prepare us for the trip?
Question: Why should I travel with a group? Can’t I do this trip on my own?
Included
on Your Trip:
- 6
Nights Accommodations in a charming, clean, comfortable,
and quiet hotel in a safe, central location. We’ll stay in
the heart of Paris, on the historic Left Bank in the midst of Parisian
cafés and bistros, local shops, and historic sites like Notre Dame and
Luxembourg Gardens. All rooms have a private bath, shower, hair dryers and
free wireless internet connections.
- Professional
Tour Guide Services. Art historian,
gourmet, and long time resident of France, Elyse Rivin leads the tour. Books or audio guides can’t compare to
Elyse’s enlightening descriptions, explanations and answers to your
questions about the great sites of Paris.
- Trip
to Versailles including VIP admission and RER train
transportation.
- Seine
River Cruise. Enjoy a spectacular night-time cruise
down the Seine. The entire city sparkles
before your eyes.

Centre Pompidou, Rodin Museum,

details, serving as the group’s private concierge. The Traveling Professor is available to guide
your stay, and to offer personal advice on everything from dining to
touring to shopping.

we follow a well-planned itinerary based upon what YOU want to see. And, if you wish to venture out on your
own, we help plan a custom daily itinerary.

nights at a charming Bayeux hotel. A
full day professionally guided Normandy Invasion Beaches tour including the
American Cemetery, Utah & Omaha beaches, Pointe du Hoc, Longues-sur-Mer gun
placements, St. Mere Eglise, plus other historic sites, battlefields, and
monuments. $479 per person, double
occupancy. This tour is conducted using
a small late-model van holding up to 8 passengers so that we can get into areas
that larger tours do not have access to.
Useful Notes:
- Hotels in Paris
are smaller and have more "character" than those in the
U.S.
- The Professor
will be more than happy to communicate with you prior to the trip via
e-mail or telephone to answer questions or address concerns.
- Travelers must be able to walk 2-3 miles daily, up and
down stairs, and on different grades of pavement in order to enjoy the
pace of the tour.
- Airfare is NOT included.
This allows the most flexibility in planning a trip. Travel
insurance for the flight portion of the trip is recommended.
- This trip is
PERFECT for single travelers as well as accompanied travelers.

Frequently Asked Questions
Frequently Asked Questions
Question: Professor, how do you run your trips?
Answer: About six weeks before we depart, each
traveler is surveyed. Based upon the
responses, an itinerary is developed.
Travel with us using that plan, or explore independently. If venturing on your own, go with our
complete guidance, instruction, and tips in order to make the day productive
and go smoothly. Each evening we arrange
for a group meal at an affordable, authentic restaurant for those who wish to
join us.
Question: Can you tell me more about how the trip is
guided?
Answer: Our extensive private guide services make The
Professor’s trips stand out from the rest.
Guides are licensed and experienced professionals. They accompany the group from start to
finish, even staying in the same hotel. Travelers take advantage of their expertise in
French history, art, and culture. Our
guides are familiar with Paris only as a local can be. An expert guide greatly enhances the Paris
touring experience. Combine this with
our philosophy of small group travel for a tour that goes beyond what is
offered elsewhere.
Answer: You’ll know exactly what to expect in terms
of packing, money, language, customs, weather, and related issues. You will be alerted of special activities such
as art exhibits, concerts, and other events.
We’re happy to speak with you over the phone or by e-mail to answer any
type of question or concern regarding the trip.
Question: Do we meet as a group prior to our departure
for Paris?
Answer: In order to get economical and convenient
flights, book from your city. We’re
able to help in finding a flight for you.
Fool-proof instruction (in print and video) on getting to the hotel from
the airport is provided.
Question: I am a solo traveler. What is the single supplement?
Answer: Usually, almost half of those on our trips
are single travelers. We’re able to put you in contact with other
single travelers if looking to share a room. Otherwise the single supplement is
about $295.
Question: I have lots of questions and concerns
regarding traveling to Paris. Are you
available to answer them?
Answer: We strive to provide our customers with a
something that is difficult to find these days – outstanding customer service
with a personal touch. We’re available
to answer questions and address concerns – either by telephone call or
email. We are here to help.
Question: Can I arrive earlier/later than the scheduled
trip dates?
Answer: Sure.
We’ll even book the hotel room for you.
Answer: We
take all of the frustration out of traveling independently. It’s easier and more fun. Our hotels are clean, comfortable, quiet and
in terrific locations. VIP,
no-wait-in-line admission to museums and attractions is taken care of. All the details (tickets, passes, reservations,
etc.) are handled by us. Itineraries
are well-planned with YOUR input.
Because groups are small, we move around the city quickly and
efficiently, faster than if you had to figure it out by yourself. Our groups are friendly. For all you get with this tour, it is
impossible to do it less expensively on your own. Most importantly, there’s no comparison to
having a professional guide lead a trip as opposed to relying on guide books or
audio guides.
Question: Who goes on your trips?
Answer: Trips are designed for adult travelers. Most are between their mid-40’s and 60’s. We do have older travelers and younger travelers. Every group is different, but there are
single travelers, friends traveling together, couples, mother/daughters, etc. Our travelers are ambitious, active, and
enjoy socializing. Our tours are NOT for
college students.
Question: Can you help me get the best airfare?
Answer: Absolutely. Book a flight from your destination into Paris,
and then back home to the United States.
We’ll help in finding the best air itinerary at the best price.
Question: How do I book?
Send
a $200 deposit per person made to “Traveling
Professor LLC” and send to: STEPHEN SOLOSKY, TRAVELING PROFESSOR. PO BOX 747, GREAT BARRINGTON, MA 01230. Deposits are fully refundable, no
